MARSHALL, MO.- Missouri Baptist University women's wrestling competed at the toughest in-season tournament so far as Missouri Valley College played host to several top women's programs across all collegiate athletics.
Josette Partney was the sole placer for the Spartans, as the second-ranked wrestler finished 7th in the 160-pound weight class.
Partney's run started after losing in her second-round match in a tight 8-6 decision to Sierra Mefford of the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.). Partney did not let that loss get the best of her, as she went on to win seven matches to claim her place on the podium. Her wins included two pins and two tech falls, and in those seven wins, she outscored her opponents 51-8. After she took a loss in the consolation quarterfinals, Partney claimed a 6-4 victory over Athena Wilden of William Jewel in her seventh-place match.
Meghan Menke,
Chloe Herrick, and
Emma Schreiber each won in their respective weight class.
The Spartans will return on the mat Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, to compete in the Jewell Duals hosted by William Jewell.
