DAVENPORT, Iowa – Missouri Baptist University men's basketball fell to Saint Ambrose University, 82-75, Tuesday afternoon.
With the loss, the Spartans drop to 2-5 on the season, snapping their two-game win streak.
Austin Lewis led MBU in scoring with 16 points. Lewis shot 6-of-10 from the field, including 4-of-7 from beyond the arc, while also grabbing five rebounds and recording one block.
Preston Fortner contributed 13 points, six rebounds, and three assists, while Breven McMullen added 10 points, two rebounds, two assists, and two blocks.
Off the bench, Thai Elder provided 13 points, hitting 5-of-6 free throws, while collecting three rebounds, two blocks, and two steals.
As a team, the Spartans shot 43.1 percent from the floor and knocked down nine three-pointers at a 36.0 percent clip.
MBU held its largest lead of the game in the first half, going up by 12 with just over eight minutes remaining before the break.
The Bees mounted a comeback, taking a 39-36 lead into halftime and sealing the victory with an 82-75 finish.
Saint Ambrose shot 46.2 percent from the floor, went 6-of-14 from three-point range, and was efficient at the free-throw line, converting 16-of-20 attempts to secure the win.
MBU returns to action Saturday, traveling to Springfield, Missouri, to face Evangel University. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
