MBU Track and Field Opens Indoor Season with Successful Weekend

ST. LOUIS — Missouri Baptist University Men's and Women's Track and Field opened their indoor seasons with a successful weekend at the GVSU-Holiday Open in Allendale, MI and the ONU Holiday Open in Bourbonnais, Ill. 

NAIA All-American Mia Duncan and fellow returner Adrienne Rockette participated in the GVSU-Holiday Open on Dec. 6 against difficult opponents including (Division I) Michigan State and (Division II) Davenport University. 

At the ONU Holiday Open on Dec. 7, representing MBU women's track and field, Emma Lawson placed first in the weight throw (13.78 m). Senior pole vaulter Alaina Scott also placed first in her event, landing at 3.65 m and hitting an NAIA B standard. 

For the men's track and field team, junior Elias Neely placed first in the 400 m at the ONU Holiday Open with a time of 51.81. Freshman Shaun Roberts also placed second in the 60 m (7.02). 

The future looks bright for MBU men's and women's track and field. They will compete again on Friday (Dec. 13) in the Indiana Early Bird Meet.
