ELSAH, Ill. — The Missouri Baptist University men's track and field team took second place, and individuals made history at the AMC Men's Indoor Conference Championship on Saturday (Feb. 17).
Upperclassmen Donovan Denslow and Camden Woolbright were named co-Athletes of the Meet for their impressive performances in multiple events.
In addition to the co-Athlete of the Meet honor, Denslow received the title of Outstanding Track Athlete of the Meet.
He claimed first place with a time of 14:44.97 in the 5000 m run, breaking his AMC championship record of 14:46.43 set in 2023. He also dominated the 3000 m (8:40.66) and the 800 m (1:58.02), placing first in those events as well.
Woolbright hit high marks in five events at the championship. His time of 8.47 put him in first place among seven in the 60 m hurdles. Woolbright not only took third place in the 200 m dash and long jump, but he bested his personal records as well. He ran the 200 m in 23.42 seconds (prev. 24.91), and he hit 6.55 m in the long jump (prev. 6.41 m).
The senior's time in the 60 m dash put him at fourth place and created a new PR of 7.13. Woolbright also earned sixth place in the high jump (1.70 m).
It was no surprise that Mayson DeRousse claimed first place in the pole vault for the eighth time this season, but the graduate student also shattered the AMC conference record by hitting 5.15 m. The previous record of 4.65 m was set in 2019 by Missouri Baptist alum Adam Vincent.
DeRousse was named Outstanding Field Athlete of the Meet for his performances. He also finished first out of 18 in the long jump (6.71 m), and third in 60 m dash (7.08). With this time, he bested his previous record of 7.27.
