HANNIBAL, MO. - On the road at Hannibal-LaGrange, the Spartans were able to continue their success as they went on to beat the Trojans 71-53.
The first five minutes of the competition were a back and forth battle between the two foes that had HLGU up by two, but MBU was able to finish the quarter strong and went into the second frame up 19-16.
Aliyah Williams knocked down a pair of triples for the Spartans, and Sophia Horton finished the quarter with five points as well.
MBU found some separation in the second quarter as they outscored the Trojans 19-10 to give them a 38-26 lead at halftime.
Horton and Amar Mansour each had 10 points at the halftime break.
Right after halftime Hannibal-LaGrange scored a quick five points to cut MBU's lead to just seven points, but MoBap turned things around and extended their lead to 20 points by the end of the third.
That was enough for the Spartans to hold off the Trojans throughout the remainder of the game as they finished up by 18 to win 71-53.
Horton scored 18 points and led the Spartans in that category throughout the contest.
Mansour finished on the doorsteps of a triple double again as she had 15 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists.
