Spartans Pull Off Double Digit Win

ATHENS, TENN. - Looking for a bounce back victory at Tennessee Wesleyan, MBU got what they wanted as they got a huge lead early and never looked back and went on to win 25-3.

Following a loss earlier in the week the Spartans were looking to get an early lead against the Bulldogs, and they accomplished that as they outscored TWU 9-0 in the first frame.

Lydia Cornett scored three of the nine MBU goals, and Caroline Karr and Skyler Morrissey got a pair each in the first fifteen minutes of action.

The Spartans kept pushing as they scored six goals in the second quarter and held the Bulldogs to just two of their own.

The trio of Cornett, Karr, and Morrissey all got a goal in the second frame, and Marissa Oldham, Bella McMillan, and Delaney Pechnik also tallied a goal for MBU.

The Spartans found success in the first half with their time of possession as they won all but two draw controls.

Up 15-2, the Spartans kept pushing and scored six more goals in the third quarter.

Missouri Baptist's offense shined all day as they scored four goals in the fourth quarter as well to give them a 25-3 victory over TWU.

Mackaylee Miller, Kiersten Lang, and KJ Bonenberger tallied goals for MBU.

Cornett made it a difficult day for the Bulldogs defense as she tallied eight goals along with four assists and picked up 15 draw controls.

Karr and Morrissey each had four goals for MBU during the victory.

The Spartans dominated the draws as they won 17 more than TWU.

Missouri Baptist will round off their spring break trip on Saturday when they take on (RV) Georgetown at 12 pm CST.
