FREMONT, NEB. - On the road in a KCAC contest against the Midland Warriors, MBU got out to a hot start and kept working throughout the game to pick up a 26-2 victory.

The Sppartans got off the bus ready to go as it did not take five minutes to score the games first three goals as Lydia Cornett, Skyler Morrissey, and Mackaylee Miller all tallied goals.

In the remaining 10 minutes of the first quarter MBU continued to have success offensively as Delaney Pechnik racked up three goals and Caroline Karr notched her first goal of the day.

Midland was able to strike first in the second quarter, but the Spartans answered not too long after as Miller scored her second goal and Morrissey got her second just 11 seconds after.

The final 10 minutes of the half went much like it did in the first quarter as MBU scored four goals with a goal from Kiersten Lang and Pechnik and KJ Bonenberger tacked on two of her own.

At the halftime break the Spartans held a 13-1 lead over the Warriors and did not stop there as MBU found a way to score 13 more goals in the second half.

Lang got the offense going again in the third quarter with two goals in the opening five minutes.

This time in the last 10 minutes of the third quarter Missouri Baptist buried five goals in the back of Midland's net to make it 20-1, and those goals came from Pechnik, Lang, Cornett, and Bonenberger scored twice.

The Spartans were not done there as it did not take them more than 30 seconds to score their first goal in the fourth quarter coming from the stick of Miller.

Cornett followed up Miller with a goal of her own and Morrissey scored twice more for MoBap.

Marissa Oldham scored her first goal of the afternoon with just over five minutes remaining, and Midland scored their second goal before Bella McMillan made it 26-2.

The Spartans held possession of the ball for most of the contest with the help of winning 23 of 31 draws. Cornett led the team with 12 draw controls followed by Natalie Patrick with four.

Patrick and Miller picked up five ground balls each to lead the Spartans and Karr and Morrissey each had four.

The Spartans 26 goals marks a program record for most goals in a game.

Pechnik led the squad with five goals trailed by Lang, Morrissey, and Bonenberger all with four.

MBU went 10-10 on clears throughout the contest and were able to rack up 48 shots with 37 of them being on goal.

The Spartans picked up 10 more ground balls than the Warriors as MBU finished with 28.

The next contest for the Spartans will take place on Tuesday at home against Culver-Stockton at 4:00 pm.
