ST. LOUIS - In a top 10 matchup the Spartans were unable to get things going and fell by a score of 18-8.

Early in the contest the Ravens of Benedictine got an early 2-0 lead, but Caroline Karr buried the first Spartans' goal of the day to make it 2-1.

Following Karr's goal Benedictine scored four straight before KJ Bonenberger netted another goal for MBU and the score was 6-2.

Before the end of the first quarter the Ravens tacked on two more goals to make 8-2.

The beginning of the second quarter went in favor of the Ravens as they scored the first four goals making it 12-2.

The Spartans got the next three goals as Karr got another and Lydia Cornett scored her first.

At the break the Spartans trailed 12-4, but Cornett opened up the second quarter with a goal to trim the deficit to seven.

Four straight goals deflated the Spartans' hopes as the Ravens made it 16-5.

Mackaylee Miller got it back to a 10 goal deficit and Benedictine got one more prior to the fourth quarter and the two foes went into the final quarter of action with the score at 17-6.

Benedictine was able to score one more goal, and MBU got two more from the sticks of Miller and Karr before the game ended at 18-8.

The Ravens held control of the ball for most of the contest as they won 19 of the 28 draws.

The Spartans will look to get back in the win column prior to postseason play on Saturday when they take on UHSP on the road.
