ST. LOUIS — MBU men's soccer will kick off the 2024 regular season with two road matches: one against No. 15 Westcliff on Saturday and another against Hope International University on Monday.

The Spartans return to action after finishing the 2023 season with a 7-5-5 record, reaching the semifinals of the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Tournament. This year marks their final season in the AMC before transitioning to the Heart of America Athletic Conference in 2025.

No. 15 Westcliff: The Spartans will face the Warriors at Orange Coast College on Saturday at 5 p.m. PDT. The match will be streamed live, and live stats will also be available. Westcliff concluded last season with an 18-2 record, remaining undefeated at home with eight wins. After securing the Cal Pac Championship, the Warriors advanced to the Round of 16 in the NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship.

Hope International University: MBU will take on the Royals at OC Great Park (Field No. 18) in Irvine, California, on Monday at 12 p.m. PDT. Hope International finished the 2023 season with a 15-4-2 record, including nine home victories, and won the GSAC Tournament Championship. The Royals also made an appearance in the NAIA Tournament but were eliminated in the first round.

The Spartans return their leading goal scorer from last season, Marko Dordevic, who tallied eight goals and four assists in 16 starts. Additionally, Sergej Misic, who finished second on the team in goals last season with four, will also be back. Misic, a native of Belgrade, Serbia, also recorded one assist in 2023.

MBU aims for its third consecutive winning season, starting with four straight road matches. The Spartans' home opener is set for Sept. 7 at 6 p.m. against Benedictine College at Spartan Field following the four-match road trip.
