ST. LOUIS — The Missouri Baptist University men's soccer team will return to action this week after two consecutive victories to open the season, with two more road matches: one against Corban University on Thursday and another against Warner Pacific University on Saturday to conclude the four-match road trip.
The Spartans are coming off a ranked victory over No. 15 Westcliff (4-1) last week and a win over Hope International University (2-1) yesterday.
Marko Dordevic and Sergej Misic each scored twice in the opening matches for MBU and are currently tied for the team lead with two goals apiece.
Goalkeeper Sean Stone started both of the opening matches for the Spartans, recording four saves in the team's victories. Both Stone's and Misic's performances in the opening match against No. 15 Westcliff earned them AMC Player of the Week honors for the first time this season.
Corban University: MBU will face the Warriors at the Outdoor Athletic Complex on Thursday at 7 p.m. PDT. The match will be streamed live, and live stats will also be available. Corban is currently 1-1 to start the season, with a 2-1 victory over Stanton University and a 4-1 loss against Willamette University. Irwin Leon and Zachary Milczarek are tied for the team lead in goals with one apiece.
Warner Pacific University: The Spartans will face the Knights at the Eastside Timbers Sports Complex at noon on Saturday. Warner Pacific is currently undefeated, beginning the year 2-0 with a 1-0 victory over George Fox University and a 3-1 win over Saint Martins. The Knights have had multiple players score this season, with four different goal scorers tied for the team lead with one goal each.
Following the two road matches, MBU returns to Spartan Field for its home opener on Saturday, Sept. 7, against Benedictine College at 6 p.m. CDT.
