PORTLAND, Ore. — The Missouri Baptist University men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season, falling 3-2 to Warner Pacific University on Saturday afternoon. Marko Dordevic continued his strong start to the season, scoring both goals for the Spartans.
Dordevic, who now has six goals this season, leads MBU in scoring. Matthew O'Reilly and Craig Moore each contributed an assist on Dordevic's goals.
The Knights outshot the Spartans 26-6 and recorded 11 shots on goal to MBU's five.
Despite the loss, Dordevic opened the scoring in the 26th minute to give the Spartans a 1-0 lead. In the second half, Warner Pacific scored three straight goals to secure the win. Dordevic's late goal in the 85th minute brought MBU within one, but the Spartans could not equalize before the final whistle.
The Spartans concluded their four-match road trip with a 3-1 record on the west coast. MBU returns home for its season opener against Benedictine College on Saturday at 6 p.m. CDT at Spartan Field.
