ST. LOUIS — The Missouri Baptist University men's soccer team fell 1-0 to Benedictine College on Saturday evening in its home opener.
Despite outshooting the Ravens 18-12, Benedictine scored the lone goal of the night, handing MBU its second straight loss.
Goalkeeper Sean Stone recorded four saves, while Matthew O'Reilly led the team with three shots on goal.
After a scoreless first half, Benedictine broke the deadlock early in the second, scoring in the 48th minute to take a 1-0 lead that held for the remainder of the match.
In the final seconds, Sergej Misic narrowly missed a shot wide left, which would have leveled the match at 1-1.
The Spartans, now 3-2 on the season, return to action on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. CDT, hosting Culver-Stockton College at Spartan Field.
