ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist University Women's Soccer put up a tough fight against Culver Stockton College, but ultimately fell 2-1 to a team that holds a 5-0-1 record on Wednesday (Sept. 11).
Despite Culver's impressive resume, the Spartans produced an evenly matched game. They were able to maintain possession of the ball about the same amount of time as the Wildcats. Missouri Baptist took nine shots (four on net), and Culver Stockton took eight (five on net).
In goal, freshman
Hannah Miller made three saves in the second half alone. The CSC goalkeeper made three saves throughout the match. Missouri Baptist also took one corner kick, while Culver Stockton took three.
MBU's leading goal-scorer,
Gabbie Wood, produced the lone goal for the Spartans with 33 minutes left in the second half, tying the game after CSC scored one in the first half.
The game remained tied until Culver scored again with 22 minutes left in the match.
Missouri Baptist created a few more shot opportunities before the end of the game, but they could not finish on net.
MBU will play again on Monday (Sept. 16) against Mid-America Christian University at 7:00 p.m., where they hope to win their first home game of the season.
