Spartans Struggle Against Evangels

ST. LOUIS — The Missouri Baptist University women's soccer team fell 2-0 to Mid-America Christian University on Monday (Sept. 16) at home.

MACU essentially won the match because they held possession of the ball for a majority of the game. They out-shot MBU 16-7.

The Spartans' defensive line was able to prevent many of those shots from being on net, though. Ellie Mollish, Madilynn Lombardo, Piper Brown, and freshman Sydney Hallenberg stood out as key players in slowing down the barrage of shot attempts.

Both Hannah Miller and Gabby Mattli saw time in cage, each recording two saves.

Rachael Beer, Gabbie Wood, and Jordyn Besserman each found opportunities to take one shot, and Brown took two.

Skylar Hollingshead took 3 shots throughout the match, one of them being on goal.

The Spartans will not take the field for a game again until Thursday (Oct. 3) at Governors State University.
