ST. LOUIS- On Friday, three Spartans on the Missouri Baptist women's wrestling squad finished in the top five in their home tournament. Josette Partney, Chloe Herrick, and Lillian Hackworth all placed for Missouri Baptist. 

Josette Partney was the Spartans' highest placer on the day when she claimed third in the 160lb-weight class. Partney's day started commandingly with a 10-2 decision over William Woods, but she had a tough opponent in the quarterfinals. 

Partney was tied in the middle of the second period in a very tough bout but dropped the match to an unattached wrestler. 

Partney went a backside tear when she outscored her opponents 21-0 to put her in the third-place bout, where she would have the chance to redeem her only loss of the day. Partney's opponent took the lead 2-1 in a tight match with 12 seconds left. 

Partney found it deep within herself to battle back and grab a point of her own in the final four seconds to take the bout and the third-place finish. 

Sophomore Chloe Herrick had herself a day when she claimed fourth at 124 pounds. The Harrisonville native dropped a tough bout in the first round. 

Herrick battled through four consolation rounds, where she picked up two falls, a technical fall, and a decision. Herrick's most exciting match came in the consolation semifinals, where she was down 6-0 but threw a beautiful headlock to capture the fall and her spot in the third-place bout. 

Lillian Hackworth placed fifth in the 103 weight class as she captured a decisive 6-2 victory over Baker University (Kan.) in the last round. 

Andrea Karagiannis claimed two victories on the day, where she outscored her opponents 21-4 in those matches. Cara Cheng also won via fall over William Woods.

The Spartans host the Quincy Hawks for senior night in the Petty SRC. Wrestling starts at 5 p.m.
