INDIANAPOLIS — The Missouri Baptist University bowling teams turned in solid showings at the Columbia 300 Western Shootout, held Oct. 11–12 at Royal Pinn Western in Indianapolis.
The Spartan women placed
fifth overall in the 29-team varsity field with a total pinfall of
8,639, finishing just 125 pins behind fourth-place Indiana Tech. Lindenwood University (8,764) and Rochester University (8,763) narrowly battled for the top two spots.
Sophomore
Savannah Scheldberg led the way for Missouri Baptist, finishing
sixth individually with a six-game total of
1,237 pins (206.2 average), highlighted by a 245 game in her fifth round. She was joined in the top half of the standings by
Emily Wagner (22nd, 1,156 pins, 192.7 avg.),
Kassandra Foss (33rd, 1,115 pins, 185.8 avg.),
Amber Lymenstull (36th, 1,101 pins, 183.5 avg.), and
Samantha DeBeaux (40th, 1,079 pins, 179.8 avg.).
On the men's side, Missouri Baptist's varsity team finished
17th out of 29 with
9,057 total pins, competing in a strong field.
Sophomore
Bryson Hicks paced the Spartan men with a six-game series of
1,195 pins (199.2 average) to place in the upper third of the 200-plus bowler field.
Silas Moats followed with
968 pins across five games (193.6 avg.), while
Charlie Hunter added
982 pins (196.4 avg.) in limited action. Freshman
Dylan Chastain contributed a
190.3 average over four games, and
Alec Forester and
Jonah Fisher also saw varsity competition for the Spartans.
Missouri Baptist will return to action later this month at The
Lions Classic hosted by Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo.
