ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Missouri Baptist University men's soccer team swept the Heart of America Athletic Conference Player of the Week awards for the second time this season, with Adel Smajlovic and Evan Baisch earning this week's honors.
This marks the second time this season that Baisch has been named the Defensive Player of the Week. He earned the recognition after a standout performance in a major win over eighth-ranked William Penn University, playing the full 90 minutes and recording four saves for an impressive .800 save percentage.
Smajlovic earned the first Offensive Player of the Week honor of his collegiate career as a freshman this season. The Oakville, Mo. native scored the decisive goal that secured MBU's win over William Penn University, taking just three shots for an impressive .667 shot percentage while playing the full 90 minutes.
Next up for the Spartans are two tough matchups this week — first against the receiving-votes Missouri Valley College Vikings on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., followed by a showdown with the second-ranked MidAmerica Nazarene University Pioneers on Saturday at 3 p.m.
