LAMONI, IOWA — Missouri Baptist University women's soccer battled to a hard-fought draw Saturday afternoon, thanks in large part to an outstanding performance in goal from Jordyn Maryas.
The Spartans held their ground defensively throughout the match, with Maryas turning away multiple high-quality chances to keep the score level. She tallied 12 saves — several of them in one-on-one situations. Offensively, Missouri Baptist had six shots, two of them on goal - Addisyn Sopczak with two shots, proving her offensive drive.
Despite both teams creating opportunities late in regulation, neither side could find the breakthrough. The result marks MBU's record to be 3-7-2.
The Spartans will return home next Saturday, Oct. 11, at 3 p.m. to take Mount Mercy.
