ST. CHARLES, Mo. — Missouri Baptist University posted strong finishes across all divisions at the 17th Annual Lions Match Play Classic, held Nov. 1–2 in St. Charles, Mo., at St. Charles Lanes.
The
Spartans' men's varsity team placed
third overall with a total of
5,503 pins, trailing only McKendree University (5,840) and Quincy University (5,706). Senior
Jonah Fisher led the varsity squad with a
672 series (247–229–196), while
Silas Moats followed close behind at
638 (260–194–184).
Lance Starks and
Charlie Hunter added consistent scores of
598 and
571, respectively, rounding out the team's top performers.
In
junior varsity men's play, Missouri Baptist's
JV1 team captured first place with
5,420 pins, narrowly edging Lindenwood JV1 (5,362). Freshman
Ian Suhor paced all Spartan bowlers with a standout
708 series (265–229–214), the second-highest individual total of the tournament.
Alec Forester added a
654 series, while
Landon Parmeley and
Jack Hoffbuhr contributed with totals of
568 and
532, respectively. MBU's
JV2 squad finished
seventh at
4,497 pins.
On the women's side, the
Missouri Baptist varsity team earned a
runner-up finish with
5,079 total pins, behind only Lindenwood University (5,444). Senior
Amber Lymenstull led the effort with a
581 series (222–156–203), placing third overall among individuals.
Kassandra Foss followed at
572, while
Samantha DeBeaux (539) and
Savannah Scheldberg (527) kept the Spartans steady in the standings.
The
women's JV team also came away with a
victory, totaling
4,815 pins to top Lindenwood JV1 and Columbia JV1. Freshman
Julia Henderson paced MBU JV1 with a
575 series (151–231–193), supported by
Whitley Quick (558),
Madison Ehrhard (528) and
Neela Missey (519).
For their efforts, Suhor, Lymenstull, and Henderson were all named to the All-Tournament Team while Forester was crowned the JV All-Tournament Champion.
The Lions Match Play Classic marked a strong performance for Missouri Baptist bowling, which claimed top-two finishes in all four divisions — men's varsity, men's JV, women's varsity, and women's JV. The Spartans will return to action later this month at the next NAIA Invitational on Friday, Nov. 14, in Topeka, Kan.
