MBU Completes Season Sweep of UHSP to Extend Win Streak

ST. LOUIS — Missouri Baptist University men's basketball remained unbeaten to start the 2025–26 season, improving to 3–0 with an 88–81 road victory over UHSP on Saturday afternoon. The win marked the Spartans' second defeat of the Eutectics in the past seven days.

The Spartans overcame a five-point halftime deficit (44–39) by shooting 54.2 percent from the field in the second half and limiting UHSP to 37 points after the break. MBU scored 42 points in the paint and forced 17 turnovers that turned into 26 points on the other end.

Senior guard Javaris Moye led the way with 24 points, four rebounds, four steals, and three assists, going 10-of-11 from the free-throw line in a high-energy performance. Austin Lewis followed with 14 points, four rebounds, and two blocks, while Tristan Wiggins added 13 points and five boards.

Merquiche Lewis (13 points) and Isaiah Dixon (nine points, six rebounds, and a block) provided key production inside, and Preston Fortner directed the offense with seven assists and two steals.

After trailing 62–57 midway through the second half, the Spartans went on a 15–4 run fueled by Moye's aggressive drives and Wiggins' trips to the line to take control. UHSP closed within four in the final minute, but Moye and Lewis combined to sink their late free throws to seal the win.

MBU shot 54.2 percent overall and 75 percent from the line, holding UHSP to 51.7 percent shooting while winning the turnover battle 17–11.
