KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Missouri Baptist University guard Javaris Moye has been named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season, continuing a historic run as one of the league's premier two-way performers.
Moye's latest honor comes after a dominant performance in MBU's 80–78 Heart road victory at Benedictine College on Saturday.
The junior delivered a complete effort on both ends of the floor, finishing with 25 points on 8-of-11 shooting, knocking down 9-of-11 free throws, while adding six rebounds, four steals, and two blocks in 28 minutes. His defensive pressure helped fuel MBU's second-half surge, as the Spartans outscored the Ravens 52–39 after halftime to secure the conference win.
Moye's four steals marked his ninth game this season with multiple steals and further cemented his role as the anchor of one of the Heart's most disruptive defenses. His two blocks also highlighted his versatility and impact guarding multiple positions.
He now leads MBU with 33 steals on the season while averaging a team-best 18.2 points per game, pairing elite defensive production with consistent offensive output.
This marks Moye's third Defensive Player of the Week award in 2025, making him the first Spartan in program history to earn the honor three times in a single season.
MBU (10–1, 5–1 Heart) returns to action Tuesday night with a nonconference road matchup at Bethel University.
