Missouri Baptist Drops Road Contest at Southeastern

LAKELAND, FLA. — The Missouri Baptist University women's basketball team battled on the road Thursday afternoon, but a second-quarter run by Southeastern lifted the Lions to a 63-48 win.

The Spartans stayed competitive early but trailed 44-25 at halftime after Southeastern outscored Missouri Baptist 24-11 in the second quarter. Missouri Baptist responded with a stronger third quarter, holding the Lions to nine points, but was unable to close the gap down the stretch.

Riley Jansen recorded a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds to lead Missouri Baptist. Abigail Williams added 12 points, and Paula Puzule finished with 10 points. The Spartans won the rebounding battle 48-36 and shot 30.2 percent from the field.

The Spartans will look to bounce back tomorrow when they take on Florida Memorial University at 1 p.m.
