LAKELAND, FLA. — Missouri Baptist University's women's basketball team fell just short in an overtime thriller, losing 57-56 to Florida Memorial University Saturday afternoon.
The Spartans showed relentless effort throughout the game, battling back from a late deficit after two quarters to force overtime. However, despite their energy and focus, they couldn't convert the final shot needed to secure the win.
Several players stepped up in the close contest. Madisyn Doran led the team with 13 points, while Riley Jansen added eight rebounds and two assists. Doran also went three-for-three in three-pointers, helping keep Missouri Baptist in contention through the final minutes. MBU also won the field goal percentage, 33.3% to 25%.
Missouri Baptist, now 3-8, will return to action after the holiday break, hosting their next game on Dec. 30 versus Ottawa University. Tip-off is set for noon.
