Moye Named Heart Defensive Player of the Week for Second Time

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Missouri Baptist University guard Javaris Moye has been selected as the Heart of America Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the second time, becoming the first Spartan in program history to win the award twice in one season.

Moye's week featured one of the most dominant defensive performances in recent MBU history.

In last Wednesday's 87–80 win over Mission University, the junior broke the program's single-game steals record, finishing with eight steals while scoring 30 points, making 11 free throws, and grabbing five rebounds in 29 minutes. The effort marked the first 30-point outing by a Spartan since November of last season and fueled MBU's ninth straight victory.

He followed with another complete outing on Saturday at Graceland, posting 18 points, six rebounds, and two steals in 30 minutes of action.

Across the two-game stretch, Moye totaled 48 points, 10 steals, 11 rebounds, and five assists, continuing to anchor one of the league's most disruptive defenses. He now leads MBU with 29 steals on the season — nearly 3.2 per game — while averaging a team-best 17.4 points per contest.

This marks Moye's second defensive weekly award in three weeks and highlights the guard's emergence as one of the Heart's premier on-ball disruptors.

The full release from the Heart can be found here.

MBU (9–1, 4–1 Heart) returns to action Saturday at Benedictine College at 4:00 p.m. in Atchison, Kan.
