ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Baptist University men's and women's tennis teams opened 2025 with victories over Judson University on Friday afternoon at home.
Men's Tennis
The Spartan men defeated the Eagles, 5-2, improving to 2-1 overall since the fall. MBU dropped the doubles point despite a 6-4 victory from Strahinja Radanovic and Arkhip Tokmakov, allowing Judson to take a 1-0 lead heading into singles.
In singles play, Luca da Silva Ebenriter led the way with a commanding 6-1, 6-0 victory in the No. 1 position. Additional wins from Sebastian Junghanns, Lucas Kzam, Arkhip Tokmakov, and Nicolas Sanchez propelled the Spartans to the 5-2 victory.
Women's Tennis
The Spartan women cruised past Judson, 6-1, improving to 3-0 since the fall. MBU secured the doubles point following two defaults from the Eagles, taking a 1-0 advantage into singles play.
In singles, Nirva Patel, Mariana Azevedo, and Mia McIsaac earned victories to clinch the overall win for the Spartans before two defaults from Judson secured the 6-1 final score.
Azevedo and McIsaac highlighted the dominant performance, sweeping their opponents 6-0, 6-0 in singles play.
