ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist University men's basketball saw its four-game win streak against Harris-Stowe State University come to an end Tuesday night, falling 73-58 on the road.
With the loss, the Spartans dropped to 10-14 overall, 5-7 away from home, and 7-7 in American Midwest Conference (AMC) play. MBU now sits in sixth place in the AMC standings.
Offensive struggles plagued the Spartans, who shot just 36.2% from the field and 34.6% from beyond the arc. Free-throw shooting also proved costly, as MBU converted just 63.6% from the line.
Thai Elder led MBU with 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting, including 4-of-7 from three-point range. Austin Lewis was the only other Spartan in double figures, finishing with 12 points, four rebounds, two assists, and one block.
HSSU, on the other hand, shot an efficient 52.5% from the field and built a lead as large as 21 points in the first half. The Spartans never led at any point in the game as the Hornets controlled the pace from start to finish.
MBU looks to bounce back Thursday when it returns home to face Crowley's Ridge College. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
