FULTON, MO. - Missouri Baptist University hit the road for a conference game against William Woods and found themselves behind by eight points at halftime, down but not out the Spartans started to scratch away at the deficit and powered by a 16 point quarter from Riley Jansen, the Spartans were able to split the season series with WWU in a 65-62 style.
The Spartans trailed by three to start the fourth quarter, but Jansen was able to knot the game at 43 apiece on the opening possession with an and-one layup, sparking her prolific quarter. She scored 14 of the first 17 Missouri Baptist points in the frame, and boosted the MBU lead to three points with 18 seconds left forcing the Owls to make a triple at the buzzer to send the game to overtime, and they were unable to do so.
Kayleigh Winch and Aliyah Williams also posted double digit points with 13 and 10, respectively. Winch also tallied four blocked shots and six rebounds throughout the contest.
Missouri Baptist struggled from beyond the arc in the first half, missing all seven attempts, but they knocked down four of them in the second half. The Spartans controlled the inside against the Owls, outscoring WWU 36-12 inside the paint.
The Spartans outpaced William Woods by 11 points in the second half, after trailing by as much as 10 in the second quarter.
The victory ties the Spartans and Owls at 9-12 in conference play in sixth place with one more regular season game left on the schedule.
