(6) MBU Defeats (8) ITU 13-11 in Electric NAIA Top Ten Matchup

ST. LOUIS – In a goal-for-goal contest against Indiana Tech University, Missouri Baptist University Women's Lacrosse took down Indiana Tech 13-11, led by five goals each from Olivia Julian and Lydia Cornett.

Indiana Tech drew first blood, scoring two quick goals at the beginning of the quarter.

With five minutes and thirty seconds left in the first quarter, Lydia Cornett scored MBU's first goal off a free position shot. ITU responded with another goal, but Cornett scored one for the Spartans just a minute after.

At the beginning of the second period, Julian scored her first of five to tie the game 3-3.

For the first time in the competition, MBU gained the lead on ITU with Cornett's third goal of the day, assisted by Kiersten Lang. Indiana Tech put two more points on the board before the end of the first half.

Going into the second half, the Warriors had the advantage on the Spartans 5-4. Finding momentum, they scored two more on MBU within the first five minutes of the third quarter.

MBU never gave up, though. Julian put a point on the board for the Spartans before ITU scored another. In response, Lang scored one of her own, assisted by Cornett.

The Spartans then scored three goals in a row to bring the third period to a close. Coming off a serious injury, sophomore Delaney Pechnik scored her first goal of the season, assisted by Skyler Morrissey.

Alexis Taylor and Julian scored the other two, both assisted by Cornett.

Captain Cornett ripped a shot into the goal off another free position shot to bring the score to 10-8.

ITU stayed persistent, scoring another goal of their own soon after Cornett's. Eventually, they tied the game 10-10.

Julian came in clutch with two more goals after, and Cornett sealed the deal with another, making the score 13-10.

The Warriors were able to sneak in one last goal, making the final 13-11.
