ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist University men's tennis secured its third straight victory in dominant fashion Saturday evening, shutting out Indiana Wesleyan University 7-0.
With the win, the Spartans improved to 5-2 overall and 5-1 at home.
From start to finish, MBU controlled the match, winning every singles and doubles contest en route to the sweep.
In doubles play, the Spartans battled through three close matches. Luca da Silva Ebenriter and Sebastian Junghanns edged out a 7-6(4) victory, while Strahinja Radanovic and Arkhip Tokmakov won 7-6(3). Lucas Kzam and Filip Petrovic secured the doubles point with a 7-5 win.
MBU carried that momentum into singles, winning all six matches in straight sets to complete the 7-0 shutout.
Women's Tennis Falls in Tight Match Against No. 23 Wildcats
MBU women's tennis also competed Saturday but suffered its first loss of the season, falling 4-3 to No. 23-ranked IWU.
With the loss, the Spartans dropped to 5-1 overall and 3-1 at home.
In doubles play, MBU secured one win, as Nirva Patel and Yvonne Shannon cruised to a 6-1 victory.
The Spartans fought back in singles, earning wins from Patel, Shannon, and Jocelynn Carmody, but ultimately fell short in the 4-3 defeat.
