Partney Becomes First Four-Time NAIA All-American in Program History

PARK CITY, Kan.- Four Missouri Baptist women's wrestlers competed at the NAIA National Championships this weekend. Josette Partney claimed her fourth All-American accolade, making her MBU's first four-time NAIA All-American.

Josette Partney already made a stellar career for herself but decided to outdo it by becoming the program's first and only four-time NAIA All-American. Partney's run concluded with a fifth-place finish at the national tournament after she went 4-2 with a technical fall. Partney rattled off three victories to place her in the national semifinal as she avenged a mid-season loss to an opponent from the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.). The semifinal bout pitted her against the No.1 wrestler Latifah McBryde of Life University (Ga.), and Partney had the lead going into the second period. Unfortunately, the momentum shifted, and Partney had to go on the offense, and eventually dropped the match 7-2. Partney also fell in her consolation semifinal and was put in the fifth-place bout as she claimed the fifth spot on the podium.

Partney finished her career at MBU as a four-time All-American and three-time conference champion. She also achieved several weekly conference awards. She finished her season 48-12, and her career record was 149-50.

Anastasia Hardin showed out in her final time in the Navy and White, as the Colton, Calif. native tore through her first opponent via fall before she dropped her next bout. Hardin went on a backside tear and picked up three more falls to end the tournament with a 4-2 record. Hardin finished with a conference title, three trips to the national tournament, and several conference weekly accolades. She also finished her season with a 25-14 record and her career at Missouri Baptist with a record of 80-40.

Emma Schreiber also made her last hoorah for Missouri Baptist this weekend at 180. After two hard-fought bouts, Schreiber finished her career as a three-time national qualifier and a multiple-time conference placer for the Spartans.

Chloe Herrick also competed at 124. In the opening round, she drew the second-ranked wrestler from the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.). She fell to the consolation side of the bracket and battled a conference foe from Wayland Baptist (Texas). After that bout, Herrick finished her season as a national qualifier and conference runner-up.

The Spartans finished top-25  in the team standings at the national tournament and fourth in the conference.
