ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Baptist University men's and women's tennis teams each earned their first conference victories of the season on Friday afternoon, defeating Missouri Valley College.
Men's Tennis
The Spartans (9-4) extended their winning streak to three matches, all by identical 5-2 scores.
MBU secured the doubles point to start the match, with victories from Luca da Silva Ebenriter/Sebastian Junghanns and Strahinja Radanovic/Arkhip Tokmakov.
In singles play, da Silva Ebenriter, Radanovic, Junghanns, and Nicolas Sanchez picked up wins to seal the 5-2 triumph.
The Spartans are now 52-26 in singles matches this season.
Women's Tennis
The MBU women's team (7-5) snapped a three-match losing streak with a dominant 6-1 victory over the Vikings.
The Spartans claimed the doubles point after wins from Nirva Patel/Yvonne Shannon and Polina Agapitova/Mariana Azevedo.
In singles action, MBU took five of six matches, with victories from Agapitova, Shannon, Jocelynn Carmody, Azevedo, and Teodora Iacob.
