MBU Tennis Wraps Up Record-Setting Season for Men, Deep Run for Women

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Missouri Baptist University men's and women's tennis capped off strong seasons over the weekend with runner-up finishes at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Tournament.

Both sides advanced to the championship round after securing wins in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds, ultimately falling to William Woods University in each of their finals.

Men's Tennis

The Spartan men opened tournament play with a 4-0 sweep over John Brown University in the quarterfinals, followed by another dominant 4-0 win over Texas Wesleyan University in the semifinals.

Luca da Silva Ebenriter led the way for MBU, going a perfect 4-0 on the weekend. He posted a 2-0 mark in both singles and doubles play, helping propel the Spartans to the championship match.

MBU came up just short in the title match, falling 4-3 to WWU on Saturday. The Spartans finished the season with a 16-7 record, setting a new program record for most regular-season wins.

Women's Tennis

The Spartan women cruised past Grand View University with a 4-0 sweep in the quarterfinals before grinding out a 4-3 win over TWU in the semifinals to secure a spot in the final.

Polina Agapitova delivered MBU's lone victory in the championship match, claiming a 6-3, 6-2 win in singles play.

MBU fell 4-1 to WWU in the title match, finishing the season with a 13-8 record, just one win shy of tying the program record for victories in a season.
