Missouri Baptist University Men's and Women's Track and Field spread themselves across two states this past weekend to compete in the Kansas University Kansas Relays (April 17) and the Culver-Stockton College Wildcat Open (April 18).
The Spartans showed out at both meets, finishing with high marks and recording new personal records.
Kansas Relays
Lawerence, KAN. — Seasoned veterans Mia Duncan and Adrienne Rockette traveled together to Kansas University to dominate in their events.
Duncan finished first in the unseeded collegiate 1500 m, hitting a PR of 4:44.37. She also finished second in the general 1500 m (4:45.35).
Rockette took third place in the 3000 m steeplechase, finishing with a time of 11:28.53.
Wildcat Open
A last minute addition to the schedule, multiple Spartans competed in the Wildcat Open and represented MBU well with their performances.
Alaina Scott hit a NAIA "B" standard with her 3.65 m mark in the pole vault, punching her ticket to the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championship.
Freshman Camrin Watkins took second in the 5000 m with a time of 19:57.80. With this time, she set a PR.
On the men's side, Wyatt Claiborne made made his debut in the 3000 m Steeplechase, finishing second with a time of 10:37.72.
Cortlen Johnson, Jackie Wilson, Brandin Dodd, and Shaun Roberts participated in the 4 x 100 m relay, taking second place (42.3).
Roberts also finished second in the 100 m (10.54) and in the 200 m (21.57). In the 200 m, he set a new PR.
Johnson earned fourth place, setting a PR with his time: 10.7.
In the 4 x 400 m relay, Elias Neely, Alex Shields, Lucas Sa, and Josiah Heras earned third place (3:27.40). This is a season best time.
Heras also took second place in the 400 m, hitting a PR of 49.94.
The Spartans will run again in the Drake Relays (April 24-26) and the Kip Janvrin Open (April 24-25).
