ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Baptist University women's soccer team battled to a 2-2 draw with Harris-Stowe State University on Tuesday night, with both sides exchanging goals in a tightly contested match.
HSSU scored at 60:20, but the Spartans tied it on a Piper Brockmeier goal with an Addisyn Sopczak assist at 74:14. Shortly after, Keziah Oluoch inadvertently redirected the ball into the Hornets' net twelve minutes into the half, giving the Spartans a 2-1 advantage.
Emma Auer netted the equalizer at 81:51 before the teams ran out the clock in the second half.
The Spartans controlled much of the possession and outshot the Hornets 16-7, with nine of the shots being on goal. This kept steady pressure in the attacking third. Despite several chances late, the offense was unable to find a game-winner.
Both defenses tightened at the end of the second half, with neither side able to break the deadlock. The draw moves Missouri Baptist to 0-3-1 on the season.
The Spartans continue the homestand against the Benedictine College Ravens on Saturday, Sept. 6, at 2 p.m.
