ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Baptist University men's soccer team fell to the Grand View University Vikings in a hard-fought match, ending with a 3-0 score. The Spartans showed consistency on offense, recording five shots in each half, but the Vikings' goalkeeper, Lius Helm, held strong to secure another victory.
Despite tallying 11 shots, the Spartans managed to place only two on target. They also struggled to generate pressure in the final third, earning just four corner kicks throughout the match.
Jake Champion and Adel Smajlovic led the Spartans' offense with four shots apiece, but neither were able to find the back of the net.
The Vikings broke through in the second half, quickly finding their rhythm after their first score. Wilmont Manneh struck at the 54:44 mark to put them on the board and later sealed the match by adding the third and final goal.
The Spartans are now 1-2-1 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference and will continue conference play against Central Methodist University (Mo.) on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
