ST. LOUIS — Missouri Baptist University women's soccer claimed a narrow 1-0 victory over Grandview University on Saturday night at Spartan Field, controlling much of the action throughout the match. Despite the weather delay, the Spartans spent roughly 80% of the game in the offensive zone, keeping constant pressure on the Vikings' defense and goalkeeper.
Missouri Baptist generated numerous scoring opportunities, totaling 22 shots, with 11 on goal. The game's only goal came in 84:33 when Addisyn Sopczak attacked the back of the net off an assist from Jersey Monnier, securing the win. Jordyn Maryas recorded her first shutout with one save.
The win improves MBU's record to 3-5-1 and sets the stage for their next match on the road against Central Methodist University on Sept. 24 at 5 p.m.
