ST. LOUIS – No. 10 Missouri Baptist University women's volleyball takes on Central Methodist University on Wednesday, Sept. 25, and follows up over the weekend in its own MBU Classic Tournament against Lindsey Wilson University and Governors State University on Saturday, Sept. 27.
The Spartans enter the week at 14-3 overall and 6-1 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. They are coming off a 2-1 week in which they defeated CMU at home with a sweep on Wednesday, a four-set loss at Grand View University on Friday, and a sweep at William Penn University on Saturday.

Valentina Navarro earned
Heart Setter of the Week with 10.9 assists per set, and
Fernanda Perini won
Defender of the Week with 1.40 blocks per set.
As a team, the Spartans are hitting .259 with 13.2 kills per set, 12.4 assists per set, and 2.2 aces per set. Their attack is led by
Gabi Jakubowska (4.21 K/S),
Allana Capella (3.44 K/S), and
Fernanda Perini (.391 PCT). Defensively, MBU averages 12.8 digs and 2.2 blocks, led by Perini's 1.34 BLK/S and
Julia Reis Pereira's 3.45 DIG/S.
CMU enters the week at 11-4 overall and 3-2 in the Heart. After their loss to MBU in St. Louis on Wednesday, Sept. 19, they responded with six straight set victories over Graceland University and Culver-Stockton College.
Lindsey Wilson University comes into the week with a 15-4 overall record and is receiving votes in the
NAIA National Poll. They are coming off a three-set loss to No. 14 University of the Cumberlands and will play at Campbellsville University on Thursday, Sept. 25.
Governors State sits at 3-14 overall and snapped a nine-game losing streak with wins over Calumet College on Sept. 16 and Mount Mary University on Sept. 18, before a loss to the University of St. Francis (Ill.) on Sept. 23.
The opening serve at CMU on Thursday is set for 7 p.m. The MBU Classic on Saturday, Sept. 27, opens at 10 a.m. against LWU in the Carl & Deloris Petty SRC.
