Kegerreis drops career-high 21 as MBU tops Hesston, 95–88

ST. LOUIS — Drew Kegerreis poured in a career-high 21 points and knocked down a career-best six 3-pointers as Missouri Baptist University men's basketball outlasted Hesston College, 95–88, on Wednesday night inside the Carl & Deloris Petty SRC.

The win lifts the Spartans to 13–6 overall, while the Larks fall to 3–21 on the season.

Merquiche Lewis recorded his second double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Tristan Wiggins added 15 points and Javaris Moye finished with 11 points. Isaiah Dixon chipped in nine points, and Austin Lewis and Tyson Williams contributed eight and seven points, respectively.

MBU shot 53.7 percent (29-of-54) from the field and 45 percent (9-of-20) from three-point range, while Hesston connected on 50.0 percent shooting and went 11-of-25 from deep.

First Half

MBU set the tone early behind strong shooting and activity on the glass, building a lead in the opening minutes and staying in front for most of the half. Kegerreis knocked down three triples in the first 20 minutes, and the Spartans took a 44–39 advantage into the break.

Second Half

Hesston opened the second half with a push, but the Spartans answered with timely scoring and defensive stops to regain control. Kegerreis continued his hot shooting from beyond the arc, and MBU stretched the margin to as many as 17 points midway through the half before closing out the seven-point victory at the free-throw line.
