Drye and Young Named Raising Canes December Athletes of the Month

ST. LOUIS - Missouri Baptist University freshman women's wrestler De'yton Young and freshman men's track and field athlete Brett Drye have been selected as Raising Cane's December Athletes of the Month.   

Drye had a strong performance in both individual and relay events. He got first place in the long jump event with a mark of 6.90 meters. He also contributed to the 4x400-meter relay, helping the team secure second place with a time of 3:37.18. 

Young posted a 3-1 record in the month of December, highlighted by a tournament championship at the AU Women's Eagle Open, hosted by Avila University (Mo.) at 110 pounds. Young defeated a returning national champion from Indian Hills Community College (Iowa) in the semifinals before pinning a returning All-American from the host school to secure the title. Following her standout performance in Kansas City, Missouri, Young was named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week.  

The Raising Cane's Athlete of the Month award recognizes outstanding performances by Missouri Baptist University student-athletes throughout the academic year.
