ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The Missouri Baptist women's soccer team fell to Park University 0-3 on Wednesday, Oct. 28, in its final home match of the season.
Park applied early pressure, ripping 11 shots in the first half alone. Erin Davidson made four saves, but the Pirates found the net twice to take a 2-0 lead.
Meanwhile, the Spartans struggled to maintain possession and were unable to get a clean look in the opening 45 minutes.
After the break, Missouri Baptist turned up the heat on offense. Kate Jose led the charge with three shots on goal, while Lillian Coleman and AnnaRose Eldred recorded one apiece.
Jordan Maryas took over as keeper and blocked three of the Pirates' four attempts on goal. However, Park ultimately secured the 3-0 win.
Missouri Baptist head coach Deno Merrick was happy with his team's effort in the second frame but noted missed opportunities.
"The effort was there; we just didn't capitalize on the chances we created," Merrick said.
Merrick hopes the Spartans can carry their second-half intensity into a full 90 minutes in their season finale.
