WICHITA, Kan. - In their first away match of the season, the Missouri Baptist Women's Wrestling team competes in the Falcon Open in a field of 41 teams, including multiple ranked NAIA opponents.

Freshman Lexington Johnson had quite a day, placing third overall in the elite 180-pound division, winning four out of five of her bouts. Three of her wins came by decision, including knockouts of the No. 3 and No. 5 ranked returning All-Americans. She claimed her semifinal third-place win by technical fall.

At 207, sophomore Mckenzie Mills claimed fourth overall in the elite division, with all of her victories being falls. Her loss in the third-place match was against the No. 10-ranked grappler, Abigail Fonseca from Texas Wesleyan.

St. Louis, Missouri native Demetria Higgins did well in the freshman/sophomore division, placing second at 138. Higgins won her first three bouts by decision, with her sole loss being in the first-place match.

At 138, Julian Smith made her collegiate debut, finishing 2-2. Lindsey Rampani also competed well, winning two of her four bouts. Both grapplers competed in the freshman/sophomore division.

The Spartans are back home next week for a dual against D2 opponent Quincy University.
