ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist University men's volleyball swept the floor against Culver-Stockton College on Wednesday, Feb. 25.
The Spartans were led to a second consecutive victory by
Isaac Allgeyer who posted 14 kills on 25 attacks (.440) and 10 kills from
Luka Stepanovic including a .769 hitting percentage. Defensively,
AJ Tufuga led the game with four blocks.
Set One
The Spartans opened the contest with a 25-10 set one win.
Luke Smalley ended the first for the Spartans creating an attack error off Clyde Harlod following the serve. The team was led by
Justin McGary with a perfect hitting percentage having three total attempts and three kills. Stepanovic had a hitting percentage of .800 for the team. Setter
Josh Kaemmerer finished leading the team with eight assists.
Cruse Aea held the defensive end with two digs.
Set Two
Stepanovic led the Spartans to a 25-16 set-two win, hitting .818 with five kills off six total attempts. Allgeyer pushed his offense forward with seven kills from 12 total attempts. MBU was in complete control the entire set and ended the second frame with three consecutive kills, with two coming from Allgeyer to end it. Â
Set Three
The Spartans completed the sweep with a 25-22 set three final. Aea started the third with a long service to put his team up 6-4. Later in the set, Culver-Stockton climbed back into the match on a kill from Henry Reeves to a pull within 24-22. Kaemmerer then found Nikos Fauotas for the final point of the game.
Stepanovic (.769), Allgeyer (.440), Tufuga (.600), and
Johnathan Kreke (.500) all finished the contest hitting above .400.
