Race for the Postseason Continues as Spartans Take on William Woods, Baker

ST. LOUIS Missouri Baptist University men's basketball heads into the week as they will travel Thursday and are home Saturday for two conference games. The Spartans are in Fulton, Mo., on Wednesday, Feb. 4, for a meeting with William Woods University and end the week with a home game against Baker University on Saturday, Feb. 7.  

Taylor Jarvis' squad is coming off a 78-63 victory on Jan. 31 against MidAmerica Nazarene University.

Spartan Notables 
  • The Spartans are 4-3 over their last seven games and 3-3 in conference play (5th).
  • Javaris Moye is leading the Spartans in points averaging 16.9 points a game and steals in conference with 50 steals. 
  • Preston Fortner close behind in conference steals with 42.  
  • Austin Lewis leads the conference in blocks with 35 blocks total.  
  • In the last outing Javaris Moye and Austin Lewis both put up 25 points in the win against MidAmerica Nazarene.  
Williams Woods University Preview 
The Owls enter Wednesday night's game at 6-17 overall and 3-12 in conference play. They are coming off a loss to Graceland University with a final score of 89-61.  

WWU 
is currently 13th in conference and are led by Mark Onyejekwe who is averaging 10 points a game and 29.1 minutes a game. Brock Davis is a redshirt senior whose also helps in leading the team averaging 10.4 points a game and 23.3 minutes. 

On Nov. 25,
 MBU beat the Owls 69-59 at home snapped a four-game losing streak for the Spartans. Overall, MBU is 6-4 in its last ten contests against WWU, dating back to 2022. 

Baker University Preview
 
Heading into the week, the Wildcats are  7-14 overall and 5-8 in the conference (12th place). They are coming off of a week of two conference losses at home to MidAmerica Nazarene University, 81-69, and at Grand View University, 70-63.  

The Wildcats are led by Myles Tucker who is averaging 16.7 points per game and is in the game for an average amount of 25.9 minutes. Cam Jones is also a front 
leader averaging 14.7 point a game.  

The only time MBU played against BU, the Spartans lost 78-74 back in 2013.
