Box Score 2 MCKENZIE, Tenn. — Missouri Baptist University men's tennis made program history with a 6–1 victory over Bethel (Tenn.) on Tuesday, while the Spartan women dropped a 5–2 decision.
The win improves the MBU men to 17–5 on the season, marking the winningest season in program history and surpassing the previous record of 16 victories. The Spartan women fall to 9–11 overall.
On the men's side, Missouri Baptist secured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. The tandem of Luca Ebenriter and Sebastian Junghanns cruised to a 6–2 victory at the top spot, while Ruslan Anurev and Omar Farahat added a 6–3 win at No. 3 to give the Spartans the early edge.
The Spartans carried that momentum into singles play, winning five of six matches to seal the team victory. Ebenriter led the way with a dominant 6–3, 6–2 win at No. 1, while Junghanns followed with a straight-set victory at No. 3 (6–2, 7–6). Anurev added another point at No. 4 with a 7–6, 6–2 decision, and Samuel Sanchez posted a 6–2, 6–2 win at No. 6.
Arkhip Tokmakov delivered a hard-fought three-set victory at No. 5, rallying after dropping the opening set to win 4–6, 6–1, 13–11, as Missouri Baptist claimed six total points in the 6–1 final.
On the women's side, Missouri Baptist opened the match with a win at No. 1 doubles, as the duo of Melissa Jangarasheva and Yvonne Shannon earned a 6–2 victory. Bethel, however, secured the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3.
In singles play, Shannon picked up a straight-set win at No. 2 (6–1, 7–6), while Natalie Haug added a victory at No. 6 with a 7–5, 7–6 decision.
Bethel claimed the remaining four singles matches, including a pair of three-set decisions at No. 3 and No. 5, to secure the 5–2 team result.
