Missouri Baptist Drops Road Contest to No. 5 William Penn

OSKALOOSA, IOWA — Missouri Baptist University men's lacrosse dropped a road match to No. 5 William Penn University on Wednesday evening, falling 25-7.

The Spartans (3-10, 2-5) faced an early deficit as William Penn controlled the tempo from the opening faceoff, outscoring Missouri Baptist 13-4 in the first half. Despite the gap, the Spartans continued to battle offensively, finding opportunities throughout all four quarters.

Missouri Baptist finished with 28 total shots, placing consistent pressure on the Statesmen defense. Leading the offensive effort, Drew Chiodini and Caleb Ward each recorded two goals, while Joe Busselman, Ryan Metcalf, and Liam Prindable added one apiece to round out the scoring.

Metcalf also contributed as a playmaker, tallying an assist, while Jake Cordes and others helped facilitate offensive movement in settled possessions. The Spartans showed efficiency in clears, converting 12-of-16 attempts, and capitalized on transition chances when available.

Defensively, Missouri Baptist collected 25 ground balls and forced multiple turnovers, working to slow a high-powered William Penn attack that entered the game unbeaten in conference play. The Spartans' goalkeeper, Daniel Heinrich, recorded seven saves against 59 shots faced, continuing to anchor the defense under heavy pressure.

At the faceoff X, Missouri Baptist secured 13 wins, with efforts spread across multiple players throughout the contest.

The Spartans will look to regroup and build on their offensive production as they prepare for their next conference matchup against Ottawa University this Saturday. Faceoff is set for 1 p.m.
