OTTAWA, KAN. — The Missouri Baptist University men's lacrosse team delivered a dominant performance Saturday afternoon, overwhelming Ottawa 21-0 in conference play.
The Spartans (5-10, 4-5) controlled the game from the opening faceoff, jumping out to a 4-0 lead after the first quarter and extending the margin to 10-0 by halftime. Missouri Baptist continued its offensive surge in the second half, outscoring Ottawa 11-0 over the final two periods to secure the shutout victory.
A balanced attack fueled the Spartans, led by Jake Cordes, who contributed a team-high of six goals. Joe Busselman added five goals of his own, while Izzy Golden added three goals. Liam Prindable recorded two goals, and Caleb Ward added five scores as Missouri Baptist finished with 21 total goals on 76 shots.
Defensively, the Spartans were just as impressive, holding Ottawa (1-15, 0-9) without a goal and limiting the Braves to just two total shots. Missouri Baptist also dominated possession, winning all 25 faceoffs.
Drew Chiodini anchored the defensive effort in goal, helping secure the shutout as Missouri Baptist forced 31 Ottawa turnovers and consistently disrupted the Braves' offensive rhythm.
Missouri Baptist returns to action at home next week, celebrating Senior Day against Clarke University. Faceoff is set for 7 p.m.
