DUBUQUE, Iowa - A weekend conference battle between Missouri Baptist University and (RV) Clarke University ended in a scoreless draw, marking the Missouri Baptist men's soccer team's third draw of the young season.
The physical matchup was evident throughout the contest, with Clarke committing 15 fouls compared to MBU's 14.
Clarke recorded the first shot attempt of the match at the 9:12 mark when Roberto Lide's attempt was saved by Spartans goalkeeper Sean Stone.
Missouri Baptist recorded its first shot at 13:00 when Noham Hamidi's attempt sailed high. Just over a minute later, Clarke goalkeeper Owen Henderson came up with a save on a shot from MBU's Iker Alvarez.
The Spartans continued to create opportunities throughout the opening half, with another attempt at the 37:58 mark that was once again saved by Henderson.
Missouri Baptist continued to pressure Clarke in the second half, recording five shots during the first 30 minutes. However, none found the back of the net. The Spartan defense also kept Clarke from finding the back of the net as the scoreless draw remained intact.
Stone finished the match with two saves, while Henderson recorded six saves for Clarke.
Overall, the Spartans held the advantage in shot attempts, 10-6, and corner kicks, 4-3.
The Spartans will return to the road Tuesday afternoon for a matchup against Brescia University in Owensboro, Kentucky.
