The MBU women's volleyball team dropped to 3-7 overall, with a 1-3 performance at the Graceland University Pizza Shack Ihvitational in Iowa this weekend. The Lady Spartans' lone win came in a 3-0 sweep of Kansas Wesleyan University on Friday. MBU won the match 25-14, 25-16, 25-11.
MBU's other Friday loss was to Taylor University (Ind.) in four games; 25-14, 25-13, 22-25, 25-15. Saturday's two losses were to Culver-Stockton College (Mo.); 19-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-21, and Grand View College (Iowa); 28-26, 25-22, 25-20.
Sophomore middle blocker
Megan Moore (St. Louis/Lindbergh H.S.) helped lead the Lady Spartan net play, with 35 kills and 10 blocks for the weekend. Senior outside hitter
Mandi Wolf (O'Fallon, Mo./Rockhurst University) added 42 kills and 55 digs. Senior setter
Heather Rynd (St. Peters, Mo./Fort Zumwalt South H.S. ) dished out 126 assists.
The Lady Spartans will open American Midwest Conference play full force this week. They will travel to defending AMC Champion Columbia College Tuesday and William Woods University on Thursday, before finally hosting their first match of the season against Stephens College on Saturday at noon.
