The MBU women's soccer team picked up its first American Midwest Conference win of the season last week, in a 8-0 win at Harris-Stowe State University on Wednesday. The win improves the Lady Spartans to 3-5 overall, 1-1 in the AMC.
A balanced scoring attack helped lead the Lady Spartans to the victory. Sophomores
Amy Kelly (Ireland) and
Sarah O'Donnell (Ireland) each scored two goals for MBU. Senior
Amanda Renaud (O'Fallon, Mo./St. Charles CC), sophomore
Nicole Hazlett (Kansas City, Mo./Park Hill HS), freshman
Taylor Walsh (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell HS), and freshman
Natasha Whitlock (St. Ann, Mo./Pattonville HS) scored one goal each. Walsh and junior
Christina Burton (St. Charles, Mo./St. Charles CC) each earned an assist. Junior goalkeepers
Michelle Smith (St. Louis/SLCC-Meramec) and
Abigail Eckstien (Hudson, Ill./Heartland CC) each shared the net in the shutout.
MBU was scheduled to play an AMC game at William Woods University on Saturday, but due to weather, the game has been postponed to October 6th. The Lady Spartans will face non-conference rival Lindenwood University on Wednesday, September 29th at 7:00 p.m. at the Chesterfield Valley Athletic Complex.
