The MBU women's soccer team walked away from the McKendree Classic this weekend 1-1, moving their overall record to 2-1. The Lady Spartans won 3-0 over Avila University on Friday night. Finding the back of the net for MBU were junior Christina Burton (St. Charles Mo./SCCC), senior Jennifer Schoon (Morton, Ill./ICC), and sophomore Amy Kelly (Ireland). Schoon also earned an assist. Junior Michelle Smith (St. Louis/SLCC Meramec) picked up the shutout for MBU. MBU did not fare so well on Saturday, failing to score in a 5-0 loss to Baker University.
 
The Lady Spartans will travel to Benedictine College on September 9th. They will return home to host Kansas Wesleyan University on the 12th.
